Bios

Meneau Jazz is a family band of 4 brothers and a father. Thanks to their mother, the 4 boys have all been involved with music since early childhood.

Theo the youngest brother, has a trumpet sound that is sweet, warm, full of humanity, generous and discreet. He is always ambitious and anxious to find new rhythms and harmonies in his improvisational quests. Theo knows the values of space and silence and understands the architectures of volume and energy. Not only does he have a great sense of what it takes to develop great grooves and rhythms, but he also communicates this sense extremely well with his musical environment. His playing is a conversation, a breath, and a natural way. Theo has also been playing piano since he was 5 years old and started blowing his horn at the age of 10. Theo is currently a member of the SF Jazz All Stars High School Jazz Band, The Thelonius Monk Ensemble, and the first trumpet in the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Arthur, the next oldest brother, has a tenor saxophone sound that is bright, incisive, and warm. He has been taking formal piano lessons since age 5 and started the saxophone when he was 10. He is currently playing saxophone in the San Jose State Combo Ensemble.

Following Arthur in the family lineup, Felix has piano sound that is rock solid and full of energy yet sensitive and sensible. Felix is a fantastic support piano player. He always keeps solid rhythm while still adapting to a singer or a lead instrument. The chord progressions he utilizes are melodic and lyrical yet sometimes daring. Felix is also an accomplished Classical piano player and always seeks avenues for expanding his musical horizons. Felix started formal piano lessons at the age of 5 and played the trombone in middle school, high school, and in a Ska rock band where he met his wife. Felix was awarded the Marin Chest Music Scholarship as well as several San Luis Obispo Jazz Federation Scholarships.

Aside from his primary drumming duties as the backbone of the group, Cedric (the oldest of the brothers) has also been playing keyboards since he was 5 years old. Through playing in different rock bands for the past 20 years in France, Cedric has become a talented musician with superior musicality and a keen ability to connect with his audience.

As the leader of the group, the father Christophe has studied upright bass at the Paris Conservatory, played rock in high school, and Gypsy Jazz at the hot Club of France. Christophe has the ability to swing in his own unique way. He is always ready to experiment and take new musical avenues while still maintaining a great sense of what the music is all about.
